Problem Space
"We are painfully aware that at many high schools, computer science is not seen as a core course, is not seen as something that's integral to the curriculum," says Rob Springall, dean of admissions at Bucknell University, a Lewisburg, Pa., school whose undergraduate computer engineering and computer science programs are ranked third by U.S. News & World Report. "Like other elective courses, computer science is one that is most at risk of getting left out when there are budget cuts."

Girls vs Boys

Provide girls and boys with lots of examples of women and girls who are successful in math and science (and who are also cool).
Our value - Countries like India and China. We are originally from India (Let's bring from value from there - why are things working in these countries although the quality could be poor, a different issue altogether). Going back to our school days - I always went to different competitions/groups with both genders in them. The girl/boy thing was never even an issue. The above article is fantastic in analysing the girl vs boy differences/realities/myths.
“There are NO differences in what girls and boys CAN learn. But there are BIG differences in the best ways to teach them.” Source: Sax, Leonard (2005) Why Gender Matters. New York: Broadway Books.
Counter argument for the above myths/realities acknowledge potential differences/impacts

Experience itself changes brain structure and function. Most sex differences start out small—as mere biases in temperament and play style—but are amplified as children’s pink- or blue-tinted brains meet our gender-infused culture - ( this is where I feel that it is infused based on the basic differences in not so much a right way! )

How could we contribute
Our difference is to how to bring this change in - Start early on in elementary schools - Start a Tech olympiad in 5th grade like the Math/Science Olympiad, offering programs right from third grade!
Developing a niche curriculum - gender based if that matters
